Outdoor Living Refresh – 1

Its week one of the ORC and I decided to jump in last minute and give it a go. When I say last minute, I mean the day of the first submissions last minute ;). My husband and I were already working on renovating this space, and I was already documenting it for my Instagramers and thought why not share it in this space as well?

The One Room Challenge is a wonderful challenge for us decor bloggers. It gives us the chance to meet many experienced and talented other bloggers and forces us to create a deadline for our projects that we may not have had the momentum otherwise to finish. I love having a deadline on the books. It keeps my booty in gear, and this challenge definitely keeps me on my toes!

Over the next 6 weeks, I will be sharing with you all the transformation of our outdoor space into something similar that you see above by the lovely @brooklynlimestone. What once was a drab backyard unused garden area will hopefully be transformed into an inviting twinkling fire pit area for marshmallow roasts and entertaining.

This is our outdoor situation, or was before the tiny house you see there in the distance got a complete makeover. If only that was done for the ORC. You can take a look at that finished product here!

To the left of the she shed are my cedar garden boxes. We are removing those boxes and creating our fire pit area in its place. The garden boxes will be moved to another side of the fence closer to a water source. Smart huh! This area to the left of the she send will be graded out. A stone fire pit will be built and put in place. A barrier will be created and stones or brick will be laid as the surround of the fire pit. Adorned with flowers and twinkling lights, we hope to create this space that literally is rock and mud into something more. Our backyard is our oasis and I want it to reflect our lifestyle or relaxing and entertaining. Follow me along on our journey as we transform this space over the next few weeks!

In this photo, you are standing where the fire pit “zone” will be. Overlooking the back of the house and the pool.
